And apparently they'll be entertained for hours. Gabe took the kids fishing and all he had to do to convince Frejya that it would be a totally fun trip was buy her a shovel. That was easy. Give that girl some mud to play in and she will be happy forever.
They had a great time. Frejya caught a big fish and then Gabe slyly attached it to his line and threw it back out and let her reel it in again. She eventually figured out that it was the same fish.

Rainy day fun
It seems like everyone around me lately has been complaining about the crazy weather we've been having, but I must say I've actually been enjoying it. And I was really excited that the forecast called for rain last weekend. It meant the whole family was home together for the whole weekend. And I do love spending time my family. It also makes for some interesting pictures when we're all piled on the couch together on a Friday night. Frejya and I sure can entertain ourselves pretty easily.
There were some with the boys too, but they just didn't turn out very well. Everyone was too wiggly I guess.

Help in the kitchen
Sometimes little things happen that make me realize how old Frejya has gotten. Ever since she was little, she has loved helping me out in the kitchen. And as the years have gone by, the types of jobs I've delegated to her have gotten increasingly bigger. But this weekend it really hit me how much she can actually do without my help in the kitchen. Friday night she used the food processor to grate some cheese for me.
She obviously gets pretty excited about cheese. Who doesn't? And I guess using the food processor isn't that big of a deal, but I wouldn't have let her use it on her own without any help a few years ago. Also, Saturday night she made brownies all by herself. She did everything from start to finish. I wasn't even in the kitchen with her. I decided mama needed a break so I took a long hot bath with a good book and a glass of wine. And Frejya measured out all the ingredients, greased the pan, preheated the oven, set the timer, put the brownies in and took them out all by herself. It was awesome. I've always been weird about having her use the oven because I don't have oven mitts (just pot holders) and I'm worried she'll burn the tops of her hands on accident. But I wasn't around to freak out about it and she managed just fine. Pretty awesome. And the brownies were yummy.

You know you want more
My friend Kim just sent me these pictures last night. And since I can't get enough of these two, I'm just going to assume everyone else wants to see more of them too. Aren't they the cutest? They were way into the pool. Luckily Iris was really good about just staying on the step and playing. Gabriel wanted off that step. Luckily I had some awesome big kids (thanks Frejya and Baylee!) to swim with him a little bit. You should have seen the fits they both threw when it was time to get out and get dressed.

Summer vacation
I cannot believe that today is the last day of school. Frejya is very excited. So excited that she wanted to get going on her summer homework yesterday.
I have big plans in store to keep her busy this summer and she didn't want to have to wait until next week to get started. I try not to allow any televison during the week, so she really likes to have projects to work on. And I'm really going to try to make sure she doesn't lose any of the new skills she's been learning in school. Here's to a summer full of long division and research projects!
Gabriel kept busy yesterday too. He found daddy's work keys and told me some crazy long story about them. Too bad I had no idea what he was trying to tell me.
He also spent some time tormenting the dog. It's a good thing she's so tolerant of him. We definitely don't leave the two of them together unsupervised, though. Gabriel really hasn't grasped the idea of personal space.

Not a good start
My morning did not start well at all. I realized after I left the house that I forgot to put my wedding ring on this morning. Not a big deal, but I hate not wearing it. Then on my drive to drop Frejya off, my coffee cup totally fell out of the cup holder in my car and spilled on the floor (luckily only a little bit spilled, but still). And then I totally tripped and fell on the gravel road and skinned my hand, knee and foot. Ouch! And I totally have gravel stuck in my palm, knee and foot that I will have to dig out with tweezers when I get home later. And it ripped a small hole in my work pants. Totally lame morning so far. Hopefully it doesn't get any worse.
